Part 3 – The Hunter’s Prey – by E.P. Marcellin
The great croc head sat in the square through the night while Laurin tried to sleep, visions of Moyra waking him each time he drifted off. At first light, he put Moyra from his mind and decided to visit the shrine just outside the village, hoping to make some sense of his miraculous escape from the jaws of death. He climbed out of the oak roots through an in-ground window he had often snuck out of as a child, hoping to avoid unwanted attention. A few people were about, youngsters who had gone out foraging for fresh fruit before the sun was up. Some angry monkeys chattered from the nearest stand of trees, scolding the children for invading their territory while remaining well out of slingshot range.
